Custom e-Learning Development

From storyboard and script to final product, I offer a variety of e-Learning authoring services. These include the design and development of new courses, redesign of existing courses to improve engagement and knowledge transfer, or converting classroom training programs to effective online courses.

Curriculum and Course Design

E-Learning can be very effective, but sometimes you want to be face-to-face with your learners. I offer both individual course design and comprehensive curriculum development, including instructional materials like participant and facilitator guides, slide decks and other multimedia content.

I have a special interest in using storytelling, interactive simulations and gamification to enhance learner engagement.

As part of the learning design process, I can conduct needs analysis to truly understand the problem to be solved, learner analysis to understand what will the learners need to be successful, and assessments to measure the effectiveness of the learning program.

Microlearning Development

Have you ever watched a YouTube video to learn how to perform a single task in a spreadsheet? That’s microlearning.

This approach delivers content in small, focused segments - often just a few minutes long - that target a single topic or objective. It uses digital tools like short videos or e-Learning modules, infographics, quizzes or brief interactive activities.

I believe microlearning is a very effective tool for the modern face-paced work environment. Modules can be accessed on-demand, allowing learners to address just-in-time learning needs, acquiring skills and knowledge at their convenience.

Procedural Training

Procedural training is an essential part of an organization’s overall learning strategy. It requires a systematic approach, breaking down the specific tasks of an employee’s role into clear, step-by-step instructions through demonstrations, guided practice and software simulations, checklists and other job aids.

I believe that to be truly successful, such training must also explain why the tasks are important, where they fit into the bigger picture, and how they interact with the processes of other roles and departments. Given this context, employees are more likely to retain the training, avoid mistakes that impact other processes, and even feel more engagement, understanding their work’s purpose in the organization’s bigger picture.

Facilitation

I have over 10 years experience facilitating corporate training on a variety of topics including orientation, accessibility and privacy legislation, fundamental management skills, team building, effective communication, software and other technical skills.

I strive to make each session engaging by connecting with my learners through stories and anecdotes, by inviting them to share their stories and expertise, by rewarding participation, and by engaging in meaningful activities that allow learners to practice their new skills.

Employee onboarding is one of the most vital tasks an organization can engage in. Done well, it can increase employee engagement, improve retention rates and decrease the time it takes for new employees to become fully productive.
